Persian prose epics are an independent literary movement in the history of Iranian literature, which, despite their ancient background, rich content, coherent structure, variety and high number, have not been able to have a place of prestige like verse epics, so they have not been introduced as they should be. Piltan-Nāmeh is one of the stories of the mentioned literary movement, which was probably written by a storyteller named “Abd-Al-Raḥmān Marāḡī” at the end of the 9th century of AH. In this research, it was tried for the first time to examine the only existing manuscript of Piltan-Nāmeh written on the date of 972 A.H. After the preface, in two parts, in a descriptive-analytical way, first, the codicology features of Piltan-Nāmeh have been examined, and then a report of its textual criticism characteristics are presented in seven parts. Since Piltan-Nāmeh is very old and relatively rich in content, and the identity of its Āḏarbāyjān narrator is also known, it can be considered a valuable source in compiling the history of Persian prose epics and providing significant data for researchers.
