Abstract
In the present research, an examination is conducted on a manuscript known as Mahbūb al-Qulūb, which is preserved in the Afandi section of the Sulaymaniyah Library in Turkey. Information regarding the author of this work and its date of composition is not available. Previously, it was believed that this work was unique and contained specific and rare information; hence, it was thought that its edition could attract the interest of researchers and enthusiasts of Persian literature.
In this study, this work is initially compared with Marzbān-Nāmē of Varavīnī, and Siyar al-Mulūk by Khwaja Nasir al-Din Tūsi, along with other Persian works, and the stories and narratives contained therein are analyzed in terms of their sources. The issue of attribution is also addressed in this work, investigating whether it contains signs of plagiarism. Afterwards, in this research, efforts are made to examine the characteristics of the manuscript and speculate on the time and place of its transcription. Based on the language and the quality of prose, as well as the physical features of the manuscript and the verses mentioned by the author within the text scholars believe that this text was compiled nearly a century after Marzbān-Nāmē, between the years 700 to 730 AH.
